“Journalism can lead to a better society.”

Information

When I finished high school, I joined a four-day basic journalism training. My initial reason was simply to get new knowledge during my free time. But after that training, I became interested in Journalism. Therefore, I attended a media school and started my career after I graduated.

My very first article was about an old classical Burmese movie which I wrote with a classmate. It was the hardest one to complete because I was so nervous and stressed. After graduation, I wrote news and short lifestyle articles about traditional Burmese crafts. After the coup, I wrote about the socio-economic situation in central Myanmar and I thought those were the most interesting articles to research.

I am working with my phone and laptop. I am now learning about Investigative Journalism and trying to improve my Photography. I believe Journalism and Society are connected. By researching the issues and injustices that the grassroots people are facing in our society, as well as the lack of rule of law, I believe that Journalism has the power to lead to a better society and a better system for our country.

Therefore, I believe that Journalism plays an important role in every democratic country and that there is a great need for media experts in countries that are fighting for democracy.

I want to show the world our cultures and lifestyles and expose the abuses our people are subjected to.

After completing a training on investigative reporting, I wrote a feature on human rights violations and the lack of accountability mechanism by and inside the Burmese army (in Burmese – April 2022)

Researchers’ Republic (Burmese academic think-tank)

I contributed to the report “Economic Collapse, Survival and Resistance in Post-Coup Myanmar” (March 2022) with stories from Bago region and Yangon.
